Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b).
Shapiro’s (2001) describes how EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution.
After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, your distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and your physiological arousal is reduced.
EMDR has rapidly become the treatment of choice for trauma, PTSD, and other serious struggles.
The treatment utilises among other methods the process of bilateral stimulation (BLS), where stimulation of both sides of the brain is thought to improve the brain’s communication between the hemispheres.
BLS and is used to activate or ‘awaken’ the whole brain. Recent studies have found a positive impact even for people with suicidal thoughts and images.
Now integrated into our work with clients suffering with the effects of trauma, the ‘EMDR Kit’ is state of the art equipment, both in appearance, its functions, and effectiveness.
With multi-sensory components controlled direct from the app – the Visual Light Tube, Hand Pulsators and Audio Headphone can be individually adjusted so that they adapt to you personally.
Hand Pulsators for Tactile Stimulation
The Hand Pulsators that are included with the EMDR Kit can be adjusted in speed and intensity. Giving tactile stimulation with the Pulsators can be used to give you an extra stimulus or in instances where visual stimulation for you is not desired or not possible.
EMDR Audio Headphones
The EMDR Kit comes with Audio Headphones which additionally enable you to recieve additional auditory stimuli with clicks or other sounds as an alternative for eye movements.
The Light Tube, Pulsators and Headphone can be used together or separately, depending on what you prefer and what feels most appropriate for you.
The whole process of creating the bilateral stimulation that makes EMDR so unique in processing trauma, PTSD, and other conditions is managed through the dedicated app. Never before has EMDR been so finely tuned to fit you uniquely.
